Health care in the home

Health care in the home is common in Sweden and is provided by local municipalities. Special housing is available but most elderly prefer to stay in their own home for as long as possible

Health care in the home

The Swedish health care system is linked to social insurance, which means that anyone who lives or works in Sweden has access to heavily subsidised health care. Elderly with special needs can receive care in the home, including home meal deliveries, help with cleaning and shopping, and transportation, as well as medical and social care.
